Echigo-ya was founded by Takatoshi Mitsui in 1673.
In 1904, it became "Mitsukoshi Kimono Store" and reached the current "Mitsukoshi".
In the same year, the department store declaration was issued, making it the first department store in Japan.
In the Renaissance style main building, there are lion statues, gorgeous Tenjo statues, and Mitsukoshi Theater, where Kabuki and theater are held, and it is a facility full of attractions.
