Ginza Area Ginza Area
In the Edo period, Ginza was lined with currency exchange shops.
It also prospered as a source of Western culture.
Areas where top overseas brand stores and long-established stores coexist
In 1612 (1612), the Edo Shogunate placed a silver coin foundry here, and today's Ginza Street was lined with currency exchange merchants. "Ginza" is the name of the government office dealing with silver coins, and the government office dealing with gold coins (oval) was called "Konza". It became Ginza as the street name in 1869 (1869), and at this time, Shin-Kankamachi 1-chome became Ginza 1-chome. In this history, Ginza has many monuments that promoted the modernization of Japan, including historic sites from the Edo period, and has set up an explanatory version to guide those who take a walk.
In addition, the downtown area, which has prospered as a center of Western culture from an early age, is the most sophisticated and fashionable city in Japan, with leading overseas brand shops and famous stores such as long-established stores that have continued for generations, mainly on Chuo-dori. The pedestrian paradise, which is crowded with many people on weekends, has been popular as a place for people to relax since it was first held in Japan in 1970 (1970) between the Ginza Doriguchi intersection and the Ginza 8-chome intersection.
