Let's go around the Sumida River 8 Bridges
Chuo-ku is also a city with many watersides, including the Sumida River, a first-class river in the Arakawa water system, while being in the city center. There is a bridge over the river, and each bridge has a variety of stories.
Kiyosu Bridge, one of the eight bridges in the Sumida River in Chuo-ku, is a unique self-designed suspension bridge in the world, built as one of the reconstruction projects of the 1928 Great Kanto Earthquake. At that time, Nishizume was Nakashu in Nihonbashi-ku and Higashizume was Kiyozumicho in Fukagawa-ku, so the name of each town was taken and the name "Kiyosu" was given. "Chuo-ohashi Bridge" is a bridge built in 1993 and was created by the redevelopment of Tsukuda Island. On the upper center side of the center, there is a sculptor Ossip Zadkine's "Messenger Statue" given by the city of Paris to commemorate the friendship between the Sumida River in Tokyo and the Seine.
