The Mitsui Main Building and the Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store, a stage of over-time heavy history and innovation.

The Mitsui Main Building was completed in 1929 as an office building for major Mitsui companies, and was designated as a national important cultural property in 1998 as a large-scale office building. The exterior is massive with granite, and the large columns extending from the first floor above the ground have a characteristic pillar decoration, and the upper part is also decorated with reliefs of various designs.
The Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store began with the opening of the kimono dealer Echigo-ya in Nihonbashi during the Edo period. In 1904, we made the "Department Store Declaration", realized one-stop shopping as the first department store in Japan, and proposed modernization of Japanese lifestyle and culture since the Meiji era. In 1927, along with the completion of the renovation of the Mitsukoshi Main Store, Mitsukoshi Hall was opened as the world's first theater in a department store. Currently, he has performed a wide range of theater performances as the "Mitsukoshi Theater".
