Bettara City (Selected in 1982, Chuo-ku, Hakkei)
traditional event since the Edo period
Bettara City, which stands in Nihonbashikodenmacho as a representative city in Tokyo, is a feature of autumn that has continued since the Keicho era. It is said that the name "Bettara City" was given because the pickles of radish pickled in koji were sold with the shout "Bettara, Bettara".
Every year for two days on October 19 and 20, tents that sell Bettarazuke are lined up around the area from Takarada Ebisu Shrine to Sugimori Shrine.
