Mikimoto Kokichi's Achievement Honoring Monument
A monument erected in honor of Okina who was named Pearl King
Mikimoto Kokichi was born in Toba-cho, Mie Prefecture in 1858, and after peddling, he started cultivating pearls. In 1905, under the guidance of Yoshiyoshi Sosaku, he finally succeeded in cultivating pearls, and immediately began exporting them as "Mikimoto Pearl", and the name became known to the world. In 1953, at the age of 95 Kokichi, this monument was erected as a pride of Ginza in recognition of Okina's achievements, who made the name of Pearl King.
