The predecessor of Hitotsubashi University was Arinori Mori's private school

Hitotsubashi University's predecessor, the Commercial Law Seminar, opened in September 1875 in the form of a private school by Arinori Mori, and contributed greatly to commercial trade education in the early Meiji era. In 1885, it was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education as a Tokyo Commercial School, and in 1949, Hitotsubashi University was established.
