The dojo of Hokushinichi-ryu swordsmanship, which is said to have passed by Ryoma.

Sadakichi Chiba (?) ~ 1879) is the younger brother of Shusaku Chiba, the founder of Hokushin Ichi-ryu swordsmanship, and he himself is also known as the user of Hokushin Ichi-ryu. Shusaku Chiba opened a dojo in Shinagawacho (now part of Nihonbashi Muromachi 1-chome) in 1822 (1822), and then relocated to Kanda Otamagaike (now near Iwamotocho, Chiyoda-ku). This dojo, named the Xuanwu-kan dojo, has been so prosperous that it can be counted as one of the three major dojos in Edo. After contributing to the prosperity of his brother Shusaku's Xuanwu-kan dojo, Sadakichi also opened a dojo near this area called "Kochiba Dojo" and "Okemachi Chiba Dojo". Sadakichi's name was called Shin-Takigi-cho (currently Nihonbashi Horidomecho 1-chome) in the pictorial map revised in December 1853 (1853), and Kano Yashiki in the pictorial map of the New Year's revision in 1854 (derived from the residence of the Shogunate Oku painter Kajibashi Kano family) can be confirmed in this area. In 1853, Tosa clansman Sakamoto Ryoma (1835-1867), who came to Edo for training swordsmanship, is said to have entered the gate of Sadakichi. At this time, Sadakichi was in charge of the Edo mansion of the Ikeda family of the Tottori clan, so it is thought that Ryoma worked hard under Sadakichi's son, Shigetaro Chiba. Also, when he returned to Edo in 1856 (1856), he practiced swordsmanship at a dojo in Sadakichi, and in New Year's Day 1858, Sadakichi gave a catalog of "Hokushinichi sword style long sword method".
