Remains of Kyobashi Daikon Riverside Vegetable Market
The site of the market that provided vegetables to Edo citizens
The banks of the Kyobashi River from Kyobashi to Konyabashi have been a market for unloading vegetables centered on radish since the Edo period, providing fresh vegetables to the residents of Edo Yaohachicho. Also known as the "daikon riverbank", it continued from the Meiji and Taisho eras, and continued until the Great Kanto Earthquake (September 1, 1923). Since the earthquake, the radish market has become a vegetable market due to land readjustment and urban reorganization, and has moved to Kanda and Tsukiji to this day. In memory of the past, a monument was built at the site of the Kyobashi Daikon Riverside Vegetable Market.
