A shrine with the "protection against misfortune God Ceiling Large Lion" that cuts the waves away from the disaster

It is said to be a shrine founded during the Manji period (1658-61) because the waves led to the completion of construction that made it extremely difficult to reclaim the Tsukiji area. Both the Tensui bowl and a pair of male and female lion heads of Namishi Inari Shrine are registered as ward-owned folk cultural properties. The festival of the shrine has been famous as the "Lion Festival" since the Edo period, and even now, at the main festival of the "Tsukiji Lion Festival", which is held once every three years, one of the two large lions is carried along with Miya portable shrine to travel around the Tsukiji district.
