Hamarikyu Onshi Garden
A separate residence of the Shogun family whose garden has been expanded (a nationally designated special scenic spot and special historic site)
This garden is a villa of the Shogun family with a tidal pond and a duck field that conveys the remnants of the Daimyo Garden to the present day.
In the early Edo period, it was a falconry area for the Shogun family, but after Tsunashige Tokugawa of feudal lord Kofu worshiped from the fourth Shogun Ietsuna and became a Shimoyashiki, it became known as Kofu Hamayashiki.
In addition, after becoming the sixth Shogun Ienobu, it became a separate residence of the Shogun family called Hama Goten.
In 1870 (1870), it was renamed Hamarikyu under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Imperial Household, and was used as a place for Imperial Gardens.
After the war, it was opened to the public, and in 1952 it was designated as a national special scenic spot and special historic site.
