The end of Shoin Yoshida
Stone monuments of thinkers who raised many late Tokugawa shogunate Shishi
clansman Yoshida Shoin, Choshu in late Tokugawa shogunate, attempted to smuggle when the Black Fleet returned, and was sent to a prison in present-day Kodemmacho. He was later repatriated to Hagi, but was sent to Edo in Ansei's prison, and was executed in a prison in Kodemmacho in 1859.
Shoin is familiar with military and Western studies, and from Hagi's Shokasonjuku Academy, he produced Takayoshi Kido, Issei Maebara, Takasugi Shinsaku, Genzui Kusaka, Hirofumi Ito, and Yajiro Shinagawa.
