Ruins of Saigo Takamori House
Remains of Saigo's residence where he lived with Shosho (shosei), lower son, and hunting dog
After the Meiji Restoration, Saigo Takamori was in his hometown of Kagoshima, but moved to Tokyo in 1871 and became Sangi (councilor). There was a mansion at that time in this area, where 15 students and 7 younger boys lived, and it is said that they had several hunting dogs.
