A monument commemorating the performance of the lottery

During the Edo period, a monument was erected on the precincts of Sugimori Shrine to commemorate the fortune exhibition. However, since it collapsed due to the Great Kanto Earthquake, the current monument was rebuilt in 1954.
The lottery was held grandly on the precincts of the temple and shrine in order to obtain the maintenance and restoration costs of temples and shrines as "Gomentomi" certified by the Shogunate. However, it was banned by the Tenpo Reform in 1842. After that, in 1945, lottery was not sold in Japan for 103 years until the government released the lottery "Katsufuda" for military procurement.
